The people that do marketing for my industry were unanimous in how I should transition from LA IT Girl to Pink Hat:  Make LA IT Girl my personal brand.  “My personal brand?” I asked.  That seems gratuitous and self-serving and icky.  I am still uncomfortable with it, but the fact is I am well known in my industry as the LA IT Girl, from Boston to DC to Dallas to LA.  Losing that personal brand would be hard.  So, Karina went to work on it – making the Pink Hat website all about our team and our focus on security, as we grow as a company.  And making the LA IT Girl website about my personal career awards, certifications and – whatever I want it to be.
