It’s terrible when we talk about cyber security all the time and then … receive this letter in our own families.  On a recent trip to San Francisco, we stayed at a very nice hotel.  The quality of the vendor or reseller matters little, however, when it comes to how their networks are secured … six months later, we received this letter:

It’s proof again that you must be diligent in protecting your customer data. A breach like this is financially impactful, not just from the Forensics and lawyers and cleanup expense – but it damages the brand certainly.  Does this mean we won’t stay at this hotel chain again?  Probably.
