One of the company's distributors appears to have been at fault.

The fourth episode of Game of Thrones this season has leaked online, days before it airs on television.

Titled 'The Spoils of War', the episode actually does not come from the recent HBO hack – in which 1.5TB of data was apparently stolen – but rather from one of the company's international distributors.

Entertainment Weekly shares (via an insider) that a watermark allegedly shows Star India being responsible for the episode getting out.

HBO previously commented on the hack, saying that it is "investigating the incident".

"HBO recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information," the network said in a statement (via Entertainment Weekly).

"We immediately began investigating the incident and are working with law enforcement and outside cyber-security firms. Data protection is a top priority at HBO, and we take seriously our responsibility to protect the data we hold."
